Danny Scrivner

Danny Scrivner, 56, of Haywood, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, in Pittsburg County.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Clint Gray officiating. Burial will be at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born May 18, 1953, in Talihina, he was the son of Robert “Red” and Eleanor Pickens Scrivner. He spent his early years at Tannehill where he attended school through the eighth grade, then at Haywood High School for the ninth and 10th grade and graduated from Stuart High School in the Class of 1972.

He attended Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton for one year on a baseball scholarship.

He married Sharon Dunn in 1973 and had two sons. He was self-employed as a heavy equipment operator for awhile and was later employed at Pulse Products as a machinist.

He enjoyed working out at Dave’s Fitness, riding his bike and, while his children were growing up, he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball. His pride and joy was his sons and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Scrivner, of the home; his sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Scrivner, of Ashland, and Chris and Carrie Scrivner, of McAlester.

Also, brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Diane Scrivner, Flower Mound, Texas, Larry Scrivner, Boston, Barry and Jean Scrivner, Euless, Texas, and Robert Scrivner, of Pyle Mountain.

And, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Calvin Thomason, of Shady Point; grandchildren, Cody and Allie Scrivner, of Ashland, and Kinsley and Konner Scrivner, of McAlester.

And, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Evelyn Dunn, of McAlester; sister-in-law, Donita Rollings, of McAlester, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Red” and Eleanor Scrivner, and a brother, Gary Scrivner.

Pallbearers will be Calvin Thomas, Jared Howard, Ryan Brown, Josh Williams, Shawn Ketchum and Clint Gray.
