Hazel Jesse Mauldin

Hazel Jesse Mauldin, 96, of Calvin, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in Calvin.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Calvin. Burial will be at Calvin Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville.

Born Dec. 6, 1912, in Eagle Town, she was the daughter of Pierce and Loera Mae (Cook) Fields. She was a graduate of Calvin High School and later Draughon Business School. She married Charlie Curtis Mauldin on Nov. 14, 1933, in Coalgate, and he preceded her in death in 1978.

She was an 80-year member of the Calvin First Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star and Calvin Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing dominoes, sewing, gardening, fishing and cooking for family gatherings.

She was a member of the King’s Aces, a team in the first professional ladies basketball league. She enjoyed telling stories of her travels and earning her $5 per game plus room and board.

Survivors include her children, Wayne Mauldin and wife, Patricia, of Durant, Barbara Brink and husband, Fred, Sacramento, Calif., Nancy Priest, Salt Lake City, Janice Hardin, of Calvin, and Brenda Lordahl and husband, Kevin, of McAlester.

Also, her grandchildren, Bradley Mauldin, Alan Mauldin, Elizabeth Copeland, Kurtis Brink, Laura Beebe, Melissa Priest, Kara Jensen, Jessica Harden, Jason Harden and Amy Reese.

And, great-grandchildren, Taylor Mauldin, Elaine Mauldin, Benjamine Mauldin, Andrew Copeland, Jackson Copeland, Ryan Sloan, Logan Brink, Dylan Beebe, Alexis Jensen, Xavier Jensen, Elijah Jensen, Chelsi Lands, Charlie Harden, Caitlyn Harden, Colton Harden, Fashion Lalli and Landyn Reese, and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Carl Fields, Jack Fields, J.R. Fields, and one sister, Keitha Bennett.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Mauldin, Alan Mauldin, Barbara Brink, Nancy Priest, Janice Hardin, and Brenda Lordahl.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kurtis Brink, Jason Harden, and Kevin Lordahl.
