James Vail
James Leroy Vail, 69, of Hoyt, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at his home.
No services are planned. Arrangements are under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
Born Jan. 22, 1940, in Hoyt, to Homer and Otheda (Taylor) Vail, he grew up in the Canadian area, where he received his education, graduating with the class of 1958. He served in the United States Army as a military policeman in Korea during 1965. He worked as a construction worker for many years and sold lake property at Piney Creek. After his retirement in 202, he was employed by Haskell County District No. 3. He enjoyed working in his garden, sharing his watermelon with friends and neighbors, reading, fishing and hunting. He was a gamesman and enjoyed hunting squirrel and deer. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 46 of Stigler.
Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home; daughter, Jami Glass and husband, Clay, of Oklahoma City; son, James Wayne, of Elmore City; stepsons, Don Moss and wife, Julie, of Lebanon, Ore. and Jeff Moss, of Springfield, Ore.; granddaughter, Tae Vail; grandsons, Brandon and Christopher Vail, of Elmore City; brothers, Jerry Vail and wife, Theresa, of LeQuire, Mike Vail and wife, Barbara, of Warner; as well as nephews and niece, John Vail, Jerred Vail, Garydon Gregg and Micheala Vail.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Otheda Vail-McCoy; father, Homer Vail, and stepfather, Beecher McCoy.
