Ruby L. (Jennings) Green, 76, of Fort Smith, Ark., formerly of Eufaula, died Sunday, July 12, 2009, in Fort Smith.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Stidham First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Mellette Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory of Eufaula.
Born Oct. 10, 1932, in Hanna, she was the daughter of Homer Meldon and Gladys Edna (Cox) Jennings. She graduated from Stidham High School in 1951. She received her bachelor’s degree and later her master’s degree in elementary education with a minor in English from Northeastern State University.
She married Bobby Ray Green on Oct. 10, 1952, in Fort Smith, Ark. She taught for 27 years in the Derby Public School system in Kansas. She returned to Eufaula in 1985.
She was a member of the North Fork Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, studying history and listening to music.
Survivors include her son, Greg Green and wife, Penny, Fort Smith, Ark.; her brothers, Leon Jennings and wife, Mae, of Stidham, Don Jennings and wife, Shirley, Sugarland, Texas, and Larry Jennings and wife, Kathy, of Hartshorne.
Also, a sister-in-law, Naomi Jennings, of Hartshorne; her grandchildren, Kyla Green and fiancé, Tandy McKinney, Fort Smith, Ark., Tiffany Shoemake, of Tulsa, and Darrell Shoemake, of Clayton, and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby, in 1997, and one brother, Haskell Jennings, in 2000.
Pallbearers will be Darrell Shoemake, Tye Weever, Mike Jennings, Jaylon Jennings, Rick Jennings, David Willmon, Jerry Ward and Les Spencer.
A fund in her name has been established at Hunn, Black & Merritt Funeral Home of Eufaula.
